Rita Sodi has run I Sodi as a Tuscan ristorante in the West Village for nearly two decades, self-taught from the start; in 2022 the room moved from its original tiny Grove Street home to a larger Bleecker Street space, white tablecloths intact. Sodi shared JBF Best Chef New York City in 2019 with partner Jody Williams of Via Carota; the Michelin Guide has listed I Sodi in its Selected tier through the 2025 NYC guide. Daily seasonal specials anchor the menu against the architectural slab of lasagne (twenty-plus layers of pasta and ragù) and the pappardelle al limone that travels the food press as the city's reference Tuscan pasta. Walk-ins welcome at the bar; the dining room remains one of the West Village's toughest reservations. For Tuscan cooking by a self-taught chef-owner running the room herself.
