The late Ryan Smith's Old Fourth Ward restaurant won James Beard Best New Restaurant in 2016 — a small, ambitious tasting room with a deeply personal mission (proceeds support The Giving Kitchen, the nonprofit Smith and his wife Jen Hidinger-Kendrick founded for restaurant workers in crisis).
