Holbrook House trades in old-school glamour with a modern flair: one of the city's most jaw-dropping bars (martinis and champagne dispensed at the flick of a switch), caviar service, oysters, lobster, and elevated California cooking. The design — by Jeff Schlarb — aims for "a private club without the membership." It's as much a see-and-be-seen destination as a meal, a gilded throwback betting on San Francisco's comeback.
